Meet The Teacher Team Linky Party

Welcome!  We are excited to meet some fellow teams of teachers that blog about teaching and/or have online stores for their teaching resources.

A little bit about us (that you haven't already learned from our "Who We Are" page of our blog or our Meet The Teacher Blogger Linky post with Stephanie from Falling into First):

We love to travel.  Lisa considers traveling her favorite hobby even though it isn't something she can do as often as many people participate in their hobbies.  The idea of traveling and experiencing something new is so exciting. . .
  • Seeing how people live
  • Being introduced to ideas and things we could never even imagine
  • Standing in awe of beautiful landscapes and nature
  • Eating food (especially sweets) that we don't normally get to eat
  • Drinking new and different beer (this is something Jonathan enjoys)
  • Riding trains and getting a chance to relax and read
  • Learning new words
  • Realizing how much we have
  • Hearing new music
  • Meeting people and hearing their stories
  • Possibly having beliefs challenged
  • Deeply understanding how small we really are
  • Experiencing new churches
  • With the way we traveled before kids, we tested our sense of peace even when we didn't know where we would sleep each night

Here are the questions for our "Meet the Teacher Team" linky party:

Where did you meet?

We met at church, when Jonathans best friend introduced him to his girlfriend (Lisa). A couple of weeks later and their fling was done. 3.5 years later we were married.

Who does what?

Jonathan creates and revises most of the resources, and he works the social media graphics and most of the posts. Lisa is the connectedness guru, meeting and greeting folks from all over the InterWorld and having all kinds of geeky online funzies. Lisa also helps organize the to-do list for us. We both blog.

What do enjoy most about your partnership?

*Blushes* No really, *Blushes again*
Jonathan loves how naturally Lisa connects with people all over the nation. She has such a friendly demeanor and likeability. I love that people sense that about her as much as I do.

Lisa is constantly amazed at what Jonathan can accomplish in such a seemingly short amount of time. He sets goals and gets stuff done. He also has great vision for how to make things on paper look good and he has taught himself how to use Photoshop so he can make his visions a reality.  Oh, and he is the king of grammar . . . if I was on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" and there was a grammar question, he'd be my phone a friend, for sure. Oh man! He'd be in the audience . . . nevermind.

Do you have nicknames for each other?

We dont really have nicknames for each other.  If anything, Lisa calls Jonathan Babe. Jonathan calls Lisa Lisa, but occasionally Sweetie.

What is your teaching theme song? (Either what song inspires your teaching or, totally pretend, what song would play when you're introduced, like at a sporting event?)

Lisas song that most inspired her teaching is Family Portrait by Pink.  This may seem like it doesnt connect but it was always a reminder to Lisa that she didnt know what each of her students experienced away from her classroom.  The six hours with her each school day could be the most stable and loving environment that a student had in their life.  This song always reminded her of the importance of her classroom environment and her opportunity to show love and kindness throughout the day.
For her pretend sporting event theme song . . . the songs coming to mind are "Lose Yourself" (clean version) by Eminem or "Particle Man" by They Might Be Giants . . . Ok, final decision is "Take My Life" by Jeremy Camp.

Jonathans is Beautiful Day by U2 or Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana. Beautiful Day because I love the message of making sure to pay attention to the art and beauty in life all around us if we pull ourselves out of the hamster wheel and stop running for a moment. Smells Like Teen Spirit because it would like totally get my adrenaline pumping to run into the arena to the intro of the song or the chorus because its stupid and contagious!!!

If you could dress-up to go somewhere, what would you wear and where would you go?

Lisa would dress-up in a fun, right-above-the-knee-length dress and a pair of cowgirl boots. Going out dancing would be fun.

Jonathan would go watch a fun comedy play, maybe A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM, which happens to be the funniest play I've ever seen.

Which do you prefer, cookies, brownies, or neither?

Lisa prefers cookies.
Jonathan prefers brownies.

Name something you've created that you love using in your classroom.

http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Circles-and-Stars-Multiplication-Made-Easy-388875Lisa loved introducing students to multiplication by using the game "Circles and Stars" from Marilyn Burns in her book "Math by all Means - Multiplication".  Lisa wouldn't tell the students they were going to be learning multiplication.  She just said they were going to play a game and when the game got boring and students wanted to show her how easy the game was (proving they were doing the steps correctly), she would tell them a secret about the game.  The look on some kids' faces when they realized they were doing multiplication and they proved it was easy, was priceless!  They would get sooooooo excited, especially kids that had heard of multiplication from their older siblings.  To reinforce the students' understanding, Lisa made Circles and Stars practice pages.

Jonathan loves his novel units, but he really loves the Grammar Ninja. Teaching and learning grammar can be so dull and monotonous that I just had to invent something that made grammar practice more interesting for students and the teacher. So voila! Grammar units that are all ninjas all the time. Ninja stories. Ninja jokes. Ninja everything. It's so fun and engaging. Students can't wait to read the next example and practice it. I'm in the middle of teaching the Parts of Speech unit, and students came in today still chuckling about last night's homework. So fun! Also check out the Commas and Subjects/Verbs.

Now, fellow Teacher Teams, it's your turn to link up.

For this linky party we are defining "Teacher Team" as a group of 2 (or possibly 3 or a family) that have teamed up to teach or create teaching resources together.  Both people do not need to be teachers . . . some teams have one teacher and a graphic designer or artist.

This particular link-up is for "teacher teams" only (as defined above) so we can get to know each other.

There are two places you can link up.
One is for a "Meet the Teacher Team" blog post  (see below for details).
The other is for two of your favorite products from your store (a.k.a. free advertisement).
You can link through one or both of these options.
So
if you don't have a blog, you can still link up two of your favorite products from your team's store.

If you want to join this linky party and you are unsure of how exactly to do that, you can check out this blog post that shows you the steps to join.

To link a blog post, you will need at least one of these buttons for the linky party and hyperlink it back to:
http://createdforlearning.blogspot.com/2014/09/meet-teacher-team-linky-party.html

If you choose to include this next button, please, add a picture of the two of you or your logo and your store name (see our example at the very top of this post).

Here are the questions again so they are easy to copy/paste into your blog draft:

Where did you meet?

Who does what?

What do enjoy most about your partnership?

Do you have nicknames for each other?

What is your teaching theme song? (Either what song inspires your teaching or, totally pretend, what song would play when you're introduced, like at a sporting event?)

If you could dress-up to go somewhere, what would you wear and where would you go?

Which do you prefer, cookies, brownies, or neither?

Name something you've created that you love using in your classroom.

After you've linked up, visit at least 3 other bloggers that linked up and show them some love!!
For the blog post, I have set the InLinkz to only accept link-ups that link to a permalink (your "Meet the Teacher Team" blog post URL would be a permalink) and include a link back to this blog post: http://createdforlearning.blogspot.com/2014/09/meet-teacher-team-linky-party.html.
