How We Figured Out How to Remove Pinterest Hover Images from Certain Images

This has been a problem for us for a while. We love those Pinterest hover images, but they doggone appear over every single image on your page. Oooodallolly what a problem getting them to not appear on certain ones.

Well, Rebecca in the Teachers Pay Teachers sellers forums tipped us off to some blogs that got us on the right scavenger hunt that finally helped us find the right website that helped us fix our problem.

Here's how we solved it:

(1) We went into the Blogger template HTML code and looked for the Javascript name of the Pinterest hover image. This was >>> bs_pinOnHover

 (2) We Googled "bs_pinOnHover remove" and found some links.

 (3) This link held the golden ticket >>> http://www.realcombiz.com/2013/01/show-pinterest-pin-it-button-on-images.html

(4) By typing "class="nopin" between the "img" and "src" codes, it stopped that particular image from showing a Pinterest hover image.

(5) Awesomesauce!!! #happydance #CreatedForLearningNewCode Thank you everybody for your inspiration and guidance! Hope this helps someone else solve their issue!

Goldfish Minds

http://createdforlearning.blogspot.com/2014/12/studentgoldfish.html

On some days, it can be so hard to inspire our students. Or even get their attention. The latest research attention spans of humans might give a glimpse into why.
For the first time in the history of keeping track of such things, humans have a shorter attention span than a goldfish.
So you had better believe it that I showed my student this nonfiction document and discussed what it means for them and their studies.
And since we have talked about it, I have used it to refocus them every once in awhile. "Class, or should I say goldfish," I will start saying and regain their attention. And by lumping myself in with them, I've made sure to communicate that this isn't condescending ... just eye-opening and a reminder to be all that we can be...and a group recognition of what technology and the flow of society is making us. We must resist! We must swim against the flow!
So what do you think about this research? These Ideas? Is this true for your students? What age are you teaching?

       Your thoughts?

Sales Analytics & Social Media

We've heard people talking about patterns and asking questions, so we thought we'd post a graph of the patterns from October and April. The patterns are mostly the same. Monday and Tuesday are frequently the highest days of the week. Saturday is always the lowest.

I don't know how helpful this is to you, but it's been helpful for us to combine this with our knowledge of when people most frequently use social media.

We're still figuring out and tinkering what to do with this information, and we're totally open to your ideas. It's just part of our journey to better understand how to meet readers and teachers where they are and develop deeper relationships. After all, it's really hard to get to know someone when you aren't in the same place at the same time.
